4 Gazso Design, Inc. TYPE: single-family SIZE: 6,500 square feet MAIN ROOMS: living room, dining room, two media rooms, two story entry space Designed as the modern counterpoint to the traditional residence on an adjoining lot—also designed by GDI—the Glenview, Illinois residence opens to the neighboring home and the nearby mature tree line located at the rear of the site. The exterior of the home combines light colored stucco and brick to showcase the building's clean lines. A two-story asymmetrical bay window mimics the tree structures while allowing for ample views of the lot while dining in front of the warm fireplace located in the dining room. Flooded with natural light, the two-story entrance features clerestory windows and serves as a blank canvas for a future art collection. Next door, the Craftsman-style home—which was constructed at the same time for the owner's sibling—features a darker shade of brick to provide an inverse example of residential architecture and inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's Winslow House.
